Summary of 2002 projects

LAND AT WOODSIDE, USK, GWENT

Four trenches were opened to investigate a cropmark. No archaeological features were found to explain the phenomenon. The varied nature of the natural subsoils, in places marl, in others sand, could in itself explain the marking. Five pieces of Roman pottery were recovered, two pieces coming from a small gully. The course of a former stream was also recorded.
