An archaeological evaluation prior to submission of a planning application for development located a medieval cultivation soil and 19th century buildings along the frontage of High Street. It is uncertain whether there was any medieval occupation as the 19th century development and landscaping could have removed the evidence. However, there was no indication of any deep features or of scatters of medieval pottery as might be expected to survive
